Hamsters are originally from the Middle East. Because they are so easy to care for, they been very popular family pets for many years. Everything you will need to care for your hamster can be found at the local pet store. It is important that their cage is equipt with a nest box, an exercise wheel, bedding material (not cedar), a food bowl and water bottle. Hamsters are nocturnal, which means that they are most active at night. There are many web sites to go to and learn more about your furry new friend. As long as you remember to give your hamster fresh food and water daily and keep his cage nice and clean, he will be a fun and interesting member of your family for many years.
