Ferret - Logan - Small - Young - Male - Small & Furry
ADV negative. Please go to Hide-E-Hole Ferret Rescue, Inc. and fill out an online application if you are interested in adopting this ferret. SHELTER HOURS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! [Evenings & weekends] Logan came in with Hunter. Logan is a a light silver. He is mostly white with some black guard hairs. He is light enough that he might qualify as a dark-eyed white.
The previous owner died suddenly, and the ferrets were left with the wife who wasn't into ferrets. When they arrived, they were thin and had rough fur from being fed cheap food. They are both still lean, but looking much better.
They had been kept in two connected cages (the cages were in two different rooms with a long pipe between) and NEVER let out to play. They were either in the cage or on a leash. Judging by the condition of the harnesses, the harnesses were left on much too long (they were worn from the ferret scratching at it). The owner meant well, but obviously didn't really know how to care for a ferret. After he died, the wife put food in the cage and emptied the litter, but that was about it. When they arrived at the shelter and were put out to play, they stood in the center of the room, completely shocked! They'd never been allowed to run loose before! Once they realized they were not going to be snatched up and put back in the cage, you should have seen the dancing! The Snoopy Dance of Joy had nothing on these guys! Logan is a blast to watch jump into the air. Neither one has calmed down much since they arrived. They have a couple years worth of running around to make up for! Logan is a very nice ferret who does not nip. He likes other ferrets, but is just a little rough at first. Both boys like other ferrets, love people, and don't bite. They are like rowdy teenagers ... they love to be chased, run through tubes, leap into the air, dance, chase other ferrets -- all the things ferrets do -- but they do it in in fast motion. These boys (one or both) would be good for households with other ferrets, as they slipped into our large play group with very little fuss. We would still need to try them out with your other ferrets (if any) to make sure they like each other. (Not all ferrets like each other.) They have been ADV tested and are negative (ADV=Aleutian's Disease Virus, not adrenal disease...there is no good test for adrenal disease.) If they are here long enough, we will try to get the vaccinations up to date. We also plan to microchip them. Adoption donation: $75
[Note: ADV test = $25. Microchipping = $35. So a $75 adoption donation is a good bargain.] Updated: 03/07/12
